How to Care for Your Ceramic (Titan) Coating

Hand washing, gentle heat and a little oil go a long way. Everything you need to keep your Titan ceramic coating non-stick for years.

Ceramic coatings changed non-stick cooking. Unlike traditional PTFE surfaces that are built on synthetic chemistry, a Titan ceramic coating is fired from natural minerals in a sol-gel process. The result is a slick, mineral-based surface that contains no PFAS, PTFE or PFOA — but like any cookware, it performs best when it is treated with a little respect.

Always let the pan cool before you clean it. Wash by hand with warm water, a drop of mild soap and a soft sponge. Avoid steel wool, scouring pads and strong dishwasher detergents, which slowly wear the ceramic layer down. If anything sticks, soak the pan in warm soapy water for a few minutes and the food will release on its own.

Ceramic conducts heat beautifully, which means you rarely need more than a medium flame. Preheat the pan dry for a minute, then add a little oil or butter. Let the food release naturally instead of forcing it with a spatula — a well-heated ceramic surface does the work for you.

Reach for wooden, silicone or nylon utensils whenever possible. Stack pans with a soft liner between them, and never plunge a hot pan into cold water, as thermal shock can micro-crack the coating. Follow these habits and your Titan surface will stay smooth, clean and reliably non-stick for years of daily cooking.
